Avoid Those Extra Calories
BY GS Headley
Multipliers, the double-up calorie foods. Avoid those extra calories by avoiding multipliers, the double-up calorie foods. What's a multiplier food you ask? Multipliers are foods that double-up calories. For example, a plain potato is a multiplier, it has around 280 calories by itself, but we almost always add two tablespoons of butter, which has about 160 calories, then a tablespoon of sour cream, which has around a 120 calories, now you've just doubled up your calorie intake. So avoid those extra calories by avoiding multiplier foods. Avocados, another multiplier, work the same way. I know it's hard to say no to adding a little sour cream when making the avocado dip, but just keep in mind that you'll have to cut your intake by half or just avoid those extra calories by not adding the multiplier. You might look at multipliers as deceivers. They're deceptive because we say, "it's only a little butter and sour cream and potatoes are good for us", right? And boy do they taste good! So try this, sprinkle a little garlic salt on your baked potato and a teaspoon of olive oil, or just bake a small potato and split that big potato with a friend. Keep those multipliers down, either by cutting the quantity in half, or substituting a low calorie spice. So it's really easy to avoid those extra calories after all. Healthy Living!
